Who We Are

Grave Matters was founded in 1986. Although Grave Matters was originally conceived as our "retirement business," our catalogs came more frequently each year. Searching for interesting books to fill those catalogs was and continues to be much fun. We enjoy meeting the interesting people that populate the book world, and finally we took the steps necessary for us both to become full-time booksellers. Our daughter Maureen and son-in-law Donal are indispensable aides to Grave Matters.

Soon we started exhibiting selections of our better books at antiquarian book fairs. In 1994 we co-sponsored the Ohio Valley Mystery Book Fair and attended the first Magna cum Murder in Muncie, Indiana.

In the summer of 1997 we posted our first listings on the Internet sites of Bibliofind and Advanced Book Exchange. At the same time we also started our own web site. In March 1998 we added a searchable database with shopping cart technology in a secure site.

We are not retired! In fact we are working more than we ever have, but we are meeting interesting folks, reading great books and having a wonderful time.
